How do I get identified?

This could be your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the next generation of champions.

No matter your background, if you have a passion for sport and the drive to succeed, YouFor2032 could be your chance to find the sport that is best for you and give you the best possible chance of elite success.

There are a number of steps involved in the process before final selections are made. These are outlined in the graphic below.

1. Apply online

As part of your online application, you will be asked questions about your sporting history and to provide a short video. This is your chance to highlight the sports you have already played and relevant results or performances. We will also ask you which sports you are keen to try. You don’t need to have played these sports before, we want to know which ones you might like to try out (or not try!).

2. Register for and attend a testing session or clinic

After you have completed your online application, you will be able to register for a testing session. Testing and clinic dates and locations can be found on the Talent Search page.

3. Sport assessment

Our talent specialists will work with our sports partners to assess your potential talent for a sport based on your physical testing results and online application.

4. Sport-specific test day

Some sports will ask shortlisted athletes to attend a sport-specific testing day to get a better understanding of your potential. For example, Diving and Swimming may want to see athletes in the water before making final program selections.

5. Confirmation and selection

Successful athletes will be invited to join the YouFor2032 program, which consists of:

  • Step 1: Three (3) month trial phase
  • Step 2: Selection into 12 month talent development phase
  • Step 3: Full integration into relevant State and/or National sporting pathways

Hi I'm Emma McKeon, I'm a dual Olympian and at the previous Tokyo Olympic Games I won seven medals. I've been swimming since the age of about eight months old.

I had a dream of going to the Olympics since I was a little girl since I was probably about five years old and I was watching the 2000 Olympics. I tried a lot of different sports but swimming was always kind of the one that I stuck with and enjoyed the most and was probably the best at and I'm glad that I stuck with it.

I definitely had a lot of ups and downs as a swimmer you definitely learn a lot of life skills that you'll take with you for the rest of your life and that's something that I've definitely learnt over the years. We definitely learn how to dedicate ourselves to really high level. I think for me I've definitely learnt a lot of self belief which I'll use for the rest of my life. I've been lucky enough to work with the Queensland Academy of Sport for the last eight years of my career.

I can't believe that there'll be a home Olympics here in Brisbane. I think it's an incredible opportunity for young Queenslanders to dream towards having a home Olympics and being able to compete at that kind of level in front of our country.

My dream since I was a little girl was to go to the Olympics and to stand on top of that podium is really a feeling that I can't put into words so if that inspires you, I definitely encourage you to give it a go.
