Results Wrap: QAS-supported athletes re-write history, plus more Paralympic selections

Our QAS-supported athletes have put on a show at the London Diamond League with record-breaking performances. And more of our para-athletes are packing their bags for Paris after being selected for Australia’s Paralympics Team!

Athletics, London Diamond League, England:

QAS-supported sprinters Bree Masters, Torrie Lewis and Kristie Edwards have helped set a new Australian record in the 4x100 metre relay. The women joined Ella Connolly at the London Diamond League to run a time of 42.48 seconds, improving the previous Australian record by 0.35 seconds, placing fourth. Bree Masters said it was a great confidence boost ahead of the Paris Games.

In the Men’s 4x100 metre relay, QAS-supported Calab Law helped the Australian team place second behind Japan. The men posted their fastest time this year at 38.31 seconds. Congratulations!

ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships, Plovdiv, Bulgaria:

Several QAS-supported canoe sprinters have represented Australia at the ICF Junior and Under 23 World Championships in Bulgaria. Congratulations to Alyssa Bailey and Claudia Bailey who placed sixth in the women’s K4 500 metres alongside Jasmine Lock and Caitlin Webber. Also competing were Jake Morris, Byron Diekmann, Ziah Peisker and Jasmine Rayward.

Several QAS-supported paddlers represented Australia at the ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships.

Paralympic selection:

Para Triathlon

Three QAS-supported para-triathletes have been selected for Australia’s largest Paralympic triathlon team! Travelling to Paris will be Jack Howell PTS5, who is currently ranked fifth in the world. Making his Paralympic return is Nic Beveridge PTWC, currently ranked sixth in the world. And competing in her first Paralympic Games will be Grace Brimelow PTS4, currently ranked sixth in the world.

Para Athletics

Congratulations to three more of our QAS-supported para-athletes selected for Australia’s Paralympic Athletics team!  Abby Craswell T36 will contest the 100 metres, Samantha Schmidt F38 will compete in discus throw, and Corey Anderson F38 in the javelin throw. Good luck team!
