16 July 2024

Our QAS-supported athletes have risen to the occasion on the world stage in key pre-Olympic events across Triathlon and Soccer.

World Triathlon Championship, Hamburg, Germany:

QAS-supported triathlete Matt Hauser has put his Olympic rivals on notice ahead of the Paris Games after winning a gold medal in Hamburg. The 26-year-old finished the World Triathlon Championship course in 50 minutes and 3 seconds ahead of fellow Queenslander Luke Willian in 11th place. Hauser said it was a tough race but a good confidence booster heading into Paris. You can watch Matt Hauser compete in the Olympic Triathlon event on Tuesday 30th July. Good luck Matt!

Matildas v France B International, Marbella, Spain:

QAS-supported soccer player and Matildas travelling reserve, Sharn Freier, has scored Australia’s only goal against Canada on her debut for the team. Despite the 22-year-old’s last-minute call up from the bench due to team injuries, Freier made the most of a pass from Mary Fowler to send the ball to the back of the net in the 23rd minute. However it was Canada who claimed the win against Australia in the Matilda’s final international game before the Paris Olympics.
