QAS Advisory Board Member Appointed Deputy Chef de Mission for Paris 2024

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is proud to acknowledge the appointment of Bridie Kean PLY as the Deputy Chef de Mission for the Australian Paralympic Team for Paris 2024.

Bridie is a double Paralympic Medallist and a current QAS Advisory Board Member with an impressive track record in wheelchair basketball, earning a bronze in Beijing 2008 and captaining the Australian Gliders to silver in London 2012. Furthermore, her athletic versatility shone through in canoeing, where she won gold at the IVF Vaa World Elite and Club Sprints Championships.

Bridie's extensive experience, tenacity, and passion for para-sports will undoubtedly contribute to her success in this new role. Her leadership skills and determination make her a natural fit for this position.

"Bridie exemplifies the true spirit of a Paralympian with her steadfast dedication to excellence, both on and off the field. Her invaluable contributions to the QAS Advisory Board have made a significant impact. Her extensive Paralympic expertise both academically and as a successful Paralympic Athlete has helped us to supercharge our Paralympic support offering to sports , particularly the areas of Elite Coach Education and Performance services.," stated Chelsea Warr, QAS Chief Executive. "I am confident that her influence will be pivotal in propelling the Australian Paralympic Team's success in Paris 2024.”

As an elite athlete, Bridie understands the challenges and sacrifices of competing at the highest level, and we are proud to have her as part of our QAS team.

“The Paralympic Movement is something that, once you’re part of it, it changes your life so much,” Kean said. “To contribute to it through this position is such an honour.

“I really want to get it right, learn as much as I can and, I guess, provide that lived experience to the leadership group about how we can best support our Paralympic team.”
