Paris 2024 Results: Thursday 25 July

Competition in the Paris 2024 Olympics is officially underway! A record 140 Queenslanders will wear green and gold as part of the 460-strong Australian Olympic Team.

Queensland athletes have kicked off competition in the Matilda’s women’s Football team and men’s Rugby Sevens team.

Football Women's – Group B Game 1 v Germany

The Matildas have kicked off their Olympic campaign with a 3-0 loss to Germany. The team will look to regroup before taking on Zambia on Monday morning AEST.

QAS-supported athlete Sharn Freier was a late replacement for Tameka Yallop. She made her debut with the Matildas in the 59th minute which followed celebrating her 23rd birthday this week.

Rugby Sevens Men's - Quarterfinal v USA

For the first time, the Australian Men's Rugby Sevens team have progressed to an Olympic semi-final. Led by Captain, 3-time Olympian and Queenslander Nick Malouf the team had an 18-0 win over USA. They now play defending Olympic champions Fiji to advance to the Gold Medal match.

Earlier, Queenslanders Nick Malouf and Hayden Sargeant featured in the Rugby Sevens Men's Preliminary Phase matches where Australia defeated Samoa 21-14, Kenya 21-7 and Argentina 22-14.
