Future skateboarding stars roll out for pathways camp

As the nation’s largest talent identification and development initiative at present, 13 of 32 participants were graduates of the YouFor2032 program, exemplifying the elite high-performance pathways open to our athletes.

Over the course of the four-day camp, athletes had the chance to reconnect, with a strong team culture already building within the group.

Some key highlights from camp included, our 2024 QAS YouFor2032 Daredevils Squad joining in on the action with the SBP program takeover at Redbank Skate Park.

Athletes worked with Sport Integrity Australia’s, Matt Sinclair on respectful behaviours and discussed the importance of performance review with QAS Performance Analyst, Alex Green – all while skating Pizzey Park and the Aussie Street Training Facility at Tallebudgera Recreation Centre.

QAS Strength and Conditioning Coach, Tim Rigby and QAS Talent Advisor, Karlee Quinn took the athletes through a physical testing and recovery session. The athletes also had the opportunity to revisit wellbeing and created a wellbeing plan with QAS AW&E Advisor, Lara Davenport.

32 athletes from across Australia have been selected to participate in SBP. These athletes applied through the Performance Pathways National Talent ID Scan, with selection based on technical profiling, training age, and current domestic and international competition trends.

Establishing a platform for QAS athletes to excel in both national competitions and the global circuit, the program aims to nurture and elevate the next generation of skateboarders into elite, high-performance athletes.

The program is designed to complement existing training environments and work in tandem with athletes’ private coaches.
